The Corner
For many
people the thought of going fast through a corner is intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Before venturing out onto
a race track we suggest reading this site as well as enrolling in an accredited racing school for some vital driving concepts
and in car training. Our focus at drivingdynamic.com is the corner, we have no interest in drag racing.

There
are three parts to a corner. The entry, the apex and the exit. If you are lost bare with us as we explain. When driving on
a race track there is a correct line you should follow to minimize the amount of cornering you have to do. You want
to make the corner as straight as possible, which creates the quickest path through it. Let us explain the terminology.
The “entry”, is where to position your car when starting to turn into the corner. On a left hand turn,
such as the one in our illustration, you want to position the car at the far right edge of the road. It is at this point that
you will start to smoothly turn into what is known as the Apex of the corner. The apex is the center of the corner and is
determined by the corner's shape. Remember that you want to make the corner as straight as possible, turning at the apex allows
this.

At the apex you start to unwind the steering wheel and ultimately exit the corner. The
exit of the corner is where you complete unwinding the wheel. In the example illustrated you can see where the exit of the
corner is located.
